Information about SCTT Membership

Membership is open to  individuals and corporations or agencies involved in the field of safety and accident prevention. Membership categories consist of: Fellows, Members, Associate Students, Honorary, and Corporate Members.


Applicants for individual membership shall:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Possess and approved qualification in OS&H, or a degree from an University recognized by SCTT, or some combination of qualifications and experience acceptable to SCTT, or have been an Associate member for a minimum of 3 years
  • Have been actively working in the field of Health, Safety and the Environment for at least 5 years


Prospective Corporate Members are:

  • Organizations seeking to promote a proactive safety culture or environmental sustainability are eligible for Corporate Membership.


Membership Benefits, SCTT will...

  • Publish its Newsletter, semi-annually for its membership as well as professional, industrial and commercial communities
  • Collect data on the professional skills, expertise and experience of its members in its Database
  • Conduct seminars, workshops, training programmes on safety and related subjects
  • Offer discounted fees at its Seminars, Workshops, etc
  • Provide a forum for networking with other safety professionals and organizations
  • Share information from its Data Base on request
  • Be a medium for the development of an appropriate national safety culture


Membership Requirements

  • Conformance with the provisions of SCTT Code of Ethics and Constitution.
  • Commitment to health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Active involvement in SCTT’s programme and initiatives.
  • Advance SCTT’s Theme – “Make Safety a Way of Life”

Code of Ethics

Members are required to:

  • Observe proper standards of ethical and professional conduct at all times
  • Be competent in the performance of professional activities.
  • Refrain from misconduct, which includes, but is not limited to any act or default likely to discredit oneself, employees, associates, the public and the Council.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the process of continuing education and development in safety and related disciplines.
  • Identify with and support SCTT’s growth through active participation in SCTT’s committees, projects, programmes and initiatives.
  • Contribute to, and support efforts that sustain SCTT’s image as a national leader in the fields of health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Promote and support the expansion of SCTT into new disciplines impacted by health, safety and the environment.

A member may be required to answer a complaint before the executive or a selected investigation and disciplinary committee for failure to observe standards of ethical and professional conduct.
